Membership in NOMADS – How can it benefit you and
your company?
What is
NOMADS?
NOMADS is a non-profit
organization founded in 1938 to:

Foster a better understanding and spirit of
cooperation between the US oil field equipment manufacturers and
service companies and foreign businessmen and government officials in
the major oil and gas producing regions around the world.

Provide a network for members to share their
knowledge and international business experiences.

Assist international industry visitors when they
visit the United States, and;
-
Promote the sale of oil equipment and services to
foreign markets.
How can I become a member of NOMADS?
Membership is offered to individuals, not companies, on a limited
basis. Members must represent the business interests of a manufacturer
or distributor of oil field equipment or an energy trade publication
company having its principal office in the United States and who are
actively involved in promoting the sale of their products and services
internationally.
The
two most common classes of memberships are “regular” and “associate”.
To be considered for membership:

An applicant must have two NOMADS members as
sponsors, attend regular meetings and/or participate in NOMADS events
prior to being eligible for consideration as a member.

Regular members possess exclusive voting and
property rights of the chapter and must be a US citizen or a non-US
citizen who is a permanent resident of the United States, who has made
foreign business trips to promote their company’s products.

Associate Members have no voting rights, meet the
requirements of a Regular Member except they do not meet the foreign
travel requirements but devote a substantial portion of their time
developing export sales.
Quarterly dues are $85.00, which includes the regular monthly dinner.
When does the Houston Chapter of
NOMADS meet?

Dinner meetings are held the second Monday of each month (except
January, July, and September) at HESS (Houston Scientific ). Topical
speakers include officers of oil companies, drilling contractors,
integrated oil service companies, and federal and sales legislators.

Special events include the Inaugural Ball in
January, the OTC International Reception in May, and the Annual NOMADS
Golf Tournament in September.

Guests are welcome at all functions except the
Annual Business Meeting in December, which is exclusively for members.
